Your industrial epoxy floor coating options in moist and wet conditions is a urethane system.  If you only have 24 hours to do the job, and it’s moist and damp, you’re talking about a cementitious urethane mortar.  The floor doesn’t have to be dry.  It could be SSD, surface saturated dry.

It could actually have no shininess to it, cool to the touch, and visibly actually see some shadows, and you can still install a urethane mortar with no problems.

And, because it’s a one‑step application, it will still have plenty of time to dry before they get back on it.

Potential Problems if Using an Epoxy Floor Coating

Same thing with urethanes, by the way, regular urethanes, that is.  For example, this was the case recently on a commercial epoxy floor where an industrial epoxy carpet with decorative aggregate was used and once in a marine epoxy floor in a harbor off a loading ramp that was always wet.  Most often you’ll see this situation on an industrial concrete floor.

Moisture always wants to try to equalize on coated industrial flooring, from the bottom to the top. So the moisture eventually would push the epoxy floor coating off.

The moisture would fill the capillaries of the cement, so that way the epoxy can’t even penetrate down into the cement.

So, generally speaking it may happen immediately. As it’s drying, some of the moisture may try to get in there and then cause all kinds of funky foaminess looking things, bubbling, foaming.

Or it may go down fine, and then just start coming off in sheets at some point in the future.

Typically it changes with the cycle of seasons. Or, if you’re in a building that’s got wet and damp industrial flooring it probably doesn’t change climate from season to season, but eventually it would be a disaster.
